Just like time, age will never reverse; however, there are certain things you can do, to slow down the aging process significantly, enabling you to enjoy your adulthood, and buying you enough time to make your mark in the world.
When we were kids, we wanted to grow up, make our voices heard, and hopefully make a difference in the world. But soon enough, we learn that growing up comes with a lot of pressure: school, career, bills, decisions, etc. That is called responsibility.
However nothing prepares us for the other kind of pressure; that of aging, which comes in the form of wrinkles, unintentional weight gain, arthritis, decrease in energy level, etc.
Children are seeking adulthood, but little do they know that not all adults are totally comfortable in their newly found apparatus.
So, whether you have just made it to the adulthood hall of fame, or have been basking in it for a while now, below are tips that can help you slow down the aging process, from a health standpoint.
Slow down the aging process by drinking lots of water.
Remember the old days when water was one of the only liquids available? Unfortunately, with advances in technology, coupled with changes in people’s taste, water was soon dethroned by hundreds of other wannabes.
The only problem is that a lot of these new thirst-quenching options are loaded with chemicals that are extremely harmful, counteracting our desire to slow down the aging process.
One of the surest ways to slow down the aging process, is to rid our organism of the toxins created by these water alternatives.
The change begins with putting down the can of soda, drinking homemade tea instead of coffee, and most importantly, drinking lots of water.
It is suggested that the average person drink at least half their body weight in ounce of water every day.
For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, attempt to cleanse your body by drinking at least 75 ounces of water, daily. You will see a noticeable boost in your energy level over time; your skin will clear up, and your face will rejuvenate.
Slow down the aging process by eating and living healthy.
Adulthood comes with free-will; but rarely do we exercise that free will appropriately, as it relates to food and healthy living.
You know that saying: “You are what you eat?” This means if you eat unhealthy food, you will eventually become unhealthy (cutting short your aging clock).
On the other hand, if you make healthy eating choices, you will help slow down the aging process, and enjoy energy, and vitality.
I suggest you cook more often at home, rather than buying fast food. Cooking at home enables you to know every ingredient that is going in your meal.
Load up on fruit and vegetables; give up smoking, and avoid doing drugs.
Slow down the aging process by exercising often.
Exercise and healthy eating represent the mortgage and common charges you pay on your body in order to keep it from foreclosure.
To slow down the aging process, it is critical that you exercise at least 3 times a week.
You do not need a gym membership to exercise. You can exercise at home, or even make it fun by jogging at the park on the weekends or early morning.
Your schedule should never be too busy to exclude exercise, because exercising will boost your energy level, and help you keep younger longer and slow down the aging process.
Slow down the aging process by sleeping at least 6 hours a day.
In today’s busy world, we sometime forget to do one of the most important things in life: sleep.
Keep in mind that your muscles grow and heal while you are asleep, not when you are awaken.
Sleeping at least 6 hours per day will do wonders in your life.
Slow down the aging process by having fun.
As mentioned way above, adulthood can be stressful, with all the responsibilities come with it.
One way to make adulthood easier to digest, is to remember to not take it too seriously all the time. Have fun!
Laugh a lot; invite friends over every other weekend, and enjoy a night of games at home. Save up and travel; discover new places and new cultures.
Step out of your comfort zone, and do things that will expand your horizon.
