You’ve had your close encounters with exercising on elliptical machines, and you may have even dabbled in the row of treadmills at the gym.

exercisingUnfortunately, you can’t quite say that you enjoyed these experiences. In fact, you probably were dreaming of the moment you could stop without losing too much dignity.

By definition, exercising is difficult.

It requires physical effort and takes a lot of time to see the fruits of your labor. Even though there is no way around this, there are some things that you can do to make it more enjoyable.

Get a Partner

Have you ever heard the saying ‘Misery loves company’?

Well in the case of exercising, this is especially true. One great way to make your sweat time more bearable is to bring along a buddy.

Make sure not to recruit a marathoner as your training partner if you’re just starting out, however, because you might leave the gym feeling more discouraged than ever. Instead, try to find a friend who has a similar fitness level so that you can work out at the same pace.

This will have a positive impact on your psyche as you see yourself being able to keep up with someone. Also, having a work out buddy will make you mutually accountable to each other to get work done.

Rock Out

One great thing about working out is that you can put in your headphones and jam out. A lot of people find that listening to music while working out is helpful because the beat provides a rhythm to move with and the lyrics can be inspirational and motivational.

Look through your music library to find fast-paced music that you can see yourself dancing to. Chances are, you’ll find yourself moving more easily when you are listening to music that you love. Crank up the sound and burn those calories!

Work out Your Brain

If you love to read but don’t have a lot of time for it, the gym could be a great place to catch up on books or magazines you’ve been meaning to squeeze in. Most machines have a tray for just this purpose.

Recumbent bicycles are great machines to use while reading because there is not a lot of bobbing up-and-down that goes on. If you find yourself getting distracted by music playing over the loud speaker or get a little sea sick from trying to run and read at the same time, another option for you might be an audiobook.

You might find that the plot of your book is so engrossing that you forget you are working out! Why not kill two birds with one stone and exercising your brain and your body at the same time?

Learn to Love the Great Outdoors

Exercising might be a perfect way for you to reconnect with nature. Many a runner or biker has fallen in love with their sport because it allows them to see and experience the beauties of the earth often and intimately.

If you have allergies, make sure to hit the countryside or mountains during a season that isn’t quite so bad or take a non-drowsy allergy medication before lacing up. The winter can be a difficult time to enjoy the outdoors as well, but warmer days can make for breathtaking runs through snow-covered hillsides.

Cherish your Work Out

The time you spend at the gym is time that belongs only to you. If you feel stressed because of your busy life, your work out might be a great break from distraction that you get to spend just thinking.

Not only this, but exercising will help you lose weight!

When you add diet and exercise to one of the best weight loss pills, you will be able to get the body that you’ve always wanted.

Over time, you will come to love your exercise time and the mental clarity you get from a sweat session.
