Evelyn Nielsen Wood was a teacher who developed a technique to teach people how to read faster.  This technique was first taught through her book called “Reading Skills.”   Later on in 1959, her husband Myron Doug Wood opened a business to teach this technique in a program known as the Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics.

Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics was taught through tutorial classes or seminars.  Among the techniques taught in the reading dynamics classes were (1) reading not from left to right rather down the page, using fingers as a guide to track main phrases or lines; and (2) reading in chunks rather than word by word.  These and other speed reading techniques taught in the Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics classes have proved to be an effective tool in teaching people how to read faster.  In fact, the program trains people to read two to five times faster, have better comprehension, and retain information better.  Being able to speed read has been a key to success for professionals and students who excel in school.  Because of this, even White House staffers during the terms of Presidents John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford and James Carter attended the tutorial classes.

Although the basic techniques of the Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics are still being used in speed reading programs today, the approach, however, has been modified and diversified to give the reader more options to choose from. Because people have different goals and learning styles, it’s important that they use the program that will best suit them.  Other than books that teach you how to read faster, audio cassettes, videos, classroom courses, online tutorials, and speed reading software systems are now available. One modern and interactive tool is 7 Speed Reading software. Modifications on the presentation of the course were made to make the program easier to follow and be more enjoyable, but many of the original principles of speed reading are still being followed.

Speed reading programs through software help you to read really fast with better comprehension, concentration, and memory retention, because these programs teach you to speed read in a manner that stimulates your brain to work faster.  Lessons and tests, especially on speed reading software, are generally designed to be easy to follow, interactive and enjoyable.  If you want to know how to read fast in an interactive and fun way, speed reading software is the best choice for you.

Speed reading has proved to be a valuable asset ever since its recognition as a teachable skill over 60 years ago.  With the advancement in technology, the renowned speed reading techniques developed by Evelyn Wood have been developed in many ways.  There are a lot of tools which you could choose to learn how to read faster.  But if you want the easiest and fastest way to learn to speed read, we recommend that you choose speed reading software.
