SiriusXM Radio Has Exclusive Summer Specials for Kids

Sirius XM Radio announced exclusive programming for kids this summer including “Story Pirates Radio,” “The Rumpus Room Summer Stage,” and “Kindie Music MashUps!” to welcome summer on SiriusXM’s Kids Place Live.

“Story Pirates Radio” is an exclusive weekly, two-hour show, featuring stories written by Kids Place Live’s own listeners and performed by the Story Pirates, the non-profit theater group. Young listeners will get the chance to make up stories, characters, homemade sound effects, and fake commercials on-the-spot wherever they are. Other segments of “Story Pirates Radio” include: “Talk Like a Character,” “Driving Games,” “Idea Storms,” “Arguing School,” “At Home Project,” and other creative story-generating games that families can play together while they are in the car enjoying the show.

“Story Pirates Radio” will launch Sunday, May 19, at 1:00 pm ET via satellite on channel 78 and through the SiriusXM Internet Radio App on smartphones and other connected devices, as well as online at SiriusXM.com.

Story Pirates is an education and media organization celebrating the words and ideas of young people by pairing world-class teachers with first-rate actors and comedians. Story Pirates is best known for the Idea Storm Program, a master-class writing workshop that brings teaching concepts to life, followed by a musical sketch comedy show featuring stories by students and performed by professional artists.

Kids Place Live will also debut “The Sing-Along Summer,” a concert series airing during the summer months featuring new performances by a different kindie rock artist playing before an audience of Kids Place Live fans every weekend. Upcoming performances for the concert series include Recess Monkey; Latin children’s recording artist, Moona Luna; GRAMMY® Award nominee Justin Roberts; Sugar Free Allstars; Lisa Loeb and many more.

“The Sing-Along Summer” kicks off the first day of summer, Friday, June 21, with an exclusive performance by award-winning singer/songwriter and television personality Laurie Berkner, at 9:00 pm ET. Visit SiriusXM.com/kidsplacelive for replay times.

In addition, SiriusXM Kids Place Live will air “Kindie Music Mashups!,” a jam session which brought together twelve of today’s most celebrated kindie rock bands and artists. At the SiriusXM studios in New York City, the kindie rockers were organized into six teams of two with each artist in a team performing the other’s biggest hit in their own style.

“Kindie Music MashUps!” airs on SiriusXM’s Kids Place Live channel 78 on Friday, May 24 at 9:00 pm ET. It replays on Saturday, May 25 at 9:00 am and 5:00 pm and onSunday, May 26 at 12:00 pm.
