There will be no retreat from Common Core standards for New York, according to state education commissioner John B. King, Jr.

King has weathered continuing criticism over the  new standardized tests and learning standards.  He stated that “we’re not retreating” and said  the continuing criticism was affecting efforts to raise student achievement. “The road to change will always be bumpier for some than for others,” he said at New York University. “But that’s no reason to stop. We teach our children to meet failure and challenge with renewed effort. Adults must do the same.”
