Some high school juniors are taking agricultural classes to the next level, by writing research papers that they will attempt to have published in professional journals.
Three teens made a presentation earlier this month to the Maryland Grain producers about an experiment to reduce the damage from deer to corn crops. The three juniors at Clear Spring High School will write a research paper that is to be published.
When spring arrives, there will be other projects, so conducting research and publishing the findings in the winter is the cornerstone for a lifetime achievemt. It gives students real world experience beyond traditional agricultural projects.
Teachers are taking Clear Spring High School’s agricultural program to the next level, by using research projects, a school farm, and capstone projects. The hands on experience will better prepare students for a career of college.
