A new achievement certificate is in place as Lincoln High School students get ready for the global economy.
Rewarding students for thinking globally, the Global Education Achievement Certificate will reward students who have an interest in global citizenship and awareness.
“We want kids to be thinking, not just regurgitating, but thinking and looking beyond what’s outside,” said Rachel George, Lincoln Social Studies Department chairwoman and global education coordinator. “It’s a wide world. With the Internet, they are exposed to more than any generation ever.”
Globalization is increasingly becoming a sought after skill for future business. The school is focusing on global awareness to set students apart when they apply for college.
“I look at students all the time going into internships at companies that are not just based around here. We better prepare them for the opportunities out there,” George said. “If a student is at college, and wants to apply for an internship or a scholarship, it is another feather in their cap.”
