Practical uses for math turned delicious when a restaurant had math students design a new pizza for a stastics project.
The question “When am I ever going to use this?” was answered in a big way when representatives of Pizza Hut paid a visit to an eighth grade advanced math class at Clearview Middle School in Harrison Township
A team of students in Anne Pooletti-Boyna’s class began a statistics project in January. Each team was to develop a new food item by collecting data, and convincing an appropriate company to produce the item.
“Then they had to go deeper to find a contact and address for the company,” Pooletti-Boyna said.
Students sent a letter to the company of their choice which is how Pizza Hut decided to pay them a visit.
“We never dreamed this would happen,” Paoletti-Bayna said.
