High school students showcased their skill at welding during an annual presentation, and also joined together in building a bicycle rack for a community challenge.
At Crestwood High School, students who are concurrently enrolled at Northeast Iowa Community College showed their welding projects and took pride in a high quality bike rack they made from recycled materials. The bike rack will be outside the Fareway store for public use. Their names will be engraved on their creation.
According to NICC welding instructor Dale Huber,“These are some good welders, and there are some that I feel should go into the industry. I enjoy seeing their confidence; they know they can do it.”
Many of the students will use their projects when they graduate from school. “A lot of them are taking their projects to school. I’m proud of them,” said Huber. He hopes that when other students see the completed projects, they will be interested in the class.
