Confucius classrooms are becoming more present in the USA. There are classes that are in US schools, support innovative teaching of Chinese language and culture, and are designated by the Confucius Institute.
The designation allows for additional curriculum materials, and additional funding for Chinese cultural activities.
In Arizona, the Arizona City Elementary School and Toltec Elementary School have been designated as Confucius Classrooms by the Confucius Institute at the University of Arizona.
Students attended the Chinese Arts and Culture Day at the University of Arizona in Tucson as part of the fourth annual Chinese Culture Festival. They participated in talent shows, calligraphy exhibitions, and Chinese language contests.
With the sharp increase in demand for Chinese language instruction, China has begun an initiative through nonprofit groups to develop Confucius Institutes and classrooms which promote the language and culture.
