Schools want parents to be involved with kids and homework, so now they have programs for parents getting help for helping with math homework. Since Common Core standards were implemented, it is not as simple as it used to be.
Parents in Westerly, Rhode Island, are participating in a free, three part series entitled “Parents Can Help With Math”. The sessions are run by the Westerly Parent Academy. They are designed to make helping kids with their math homework to be less of a struggle for both parents and children.
Matt and Kate Ezyk are parents of a kindergartener and they are concerned about Common Core math. “If this doesn’t make sense to us, how are we going to help him?” Matt Ezyk said.
