Common Sense Media has published a survey which indicates that teens are multitasking with media while doing homework, spending nearly nine hours a day absorbing music, television, and social media.

Music is listened to by two thirds of the teens every day. 58 percent report that they watch television daily. Social media was not as popular a choice as music, as only 45 percent reported using social media every day.

According to the founder and CEO of Common Sense Media James Steyer, “Nearly two-thirds of teens today tell us they don’t think watching TV or texting while doing homework makes any difference to their ability to study and learn, even though there’s more and more research to the contrary.”

The teens report that parents spend more time discussing the content of what they watch with them, rather than how much and multitasking with homework
