The collaborative approach of a longtime educator has garnered him respect and now recognition as an exemplary principal.
At Homer Davis Elementary School in Flowing Wells, Arizona, Chad Miller considers himself a teammate to teachers and staff. While he prefers to credit his team with the success of nearly 500 students, The Rodel Foundation of Arizona has named him as a 2016 Exemplary Principal.
“It’s a very humbling experience,” said Miller. “I’m not too comfortable with it, because it’s a reflection of the great people I work with every day. I learn more from them than they learn from me.”
Nearly all the students at Homer Davis qualify for free or reduced priced lunches. The school has a reputation for solid academic performance and a community expectation of success.
The award includes a $1500 prize and an opportunity to mentor principals in other schools.
