As part of a focus on math education, Amazon’s new website changes how students approach math.

Amazon's New Website Changes How Students Approach MathOver half of young adults say they are not good at math, and Amazon aims to eliminate the fear of math that many American students have. The campaign is titled “With Math I Can” and was developed by Amazon’s Ten Marks company.

Ten Marks is an online math instruction company acquired by Amazon in 2013. Teachers who used that company’s services helped inspire the initiative.

Amazon wants to foster a “growth mindset” focused on the process of learning rather than right answers.  Rather than say “I’m not good at math,” the idea is for students to say “I will learn from my mistakes” or “I will persevere at math”. 

Free resources are available to teachers. Amazon has enrolled several national education nonprofits and schools in California and New Jersey.
