A renewed approach to teaching is challenging public schools with a new literacy initiative.
Any parent will be able to walk into any school by the end of 2018 and see that the teaching styles are the same along with materials and measurements. “It’s really about consistency,” said Danielle D’Andrea, Internal CK3LI Coach, “and building best practice across the district.”
The intent is to close the achievement gap and significantly increase the percentage of children reading at grade level.
At the present time, there are four Internal Literacy Coaches at the individual schools. Their job is to help schools build solid plans and implement best practices with everyday teaching. The initiative is supported by two organizations, HILL for Literacy and LiteracyHow.
