The best way to find the perfect backpack for kids is to find a school where the perfect backpack is designed and created by kids.
At Seeley Lake Elementary School, backpacks that were designed by students hang in the hallways for people to leave comments. Math and science teacher, Patti Bartlett, challenged her seventh and eighth grade classes to design the perfect backpack, as she and other teachers wanted to incorporate something they love into their lessons. Since Bartlett loves the outdoors, math, and science, that meant backpacks for hiking.
“I’ve never had the perfect backpack,” Bartlett told the class. “They either weigh too much, there’s not enough pockets …”
After examining backpacks at a local store, and visits from local hikers who discussed their backpacks, the kids measured and analyzed backpacks and came up with 18 unique designs of their own.
