High schools are mixing job training with academics, as cateer education is making a comeback in schools in the United States.
Years ago, “shop class” and vocational technical classes were considered a less desirable alternative for students who were not going to college. But now, vocational education is back as “career pathways”. In California academics are combined with technical training in an effort to give students the opportunity for post secondary education.
“Career and technical education is really the perfect blend of the academic, the technical and the employability skills. Students come out college- and career-ready because they have the skills in all these essential areas,” Association for Career and Technical Education Executive Director LeeAnn Wilson said.
