A career program focused on entertainment technology is the newest offering from Pittsburgh Public Schools at Milliones 6-12.  The three year career pathway signature program will be the first offered at the school that is also known as University Prep. The plan was recently approved by the school board.

Career Program Focused on Educational TechnologyAccording to Angela Mike, executive director of career and technical education for the district, an unused existing media lab means the program could be “up and running in no time.”

To start, there will be two sections of 25 students spending two hours a day in the program studying related subjects such as web and graphic design, television production, video, animation, and photography.  Students will be eligible when they enter 10th grade.

“I think it has a lot of potential, and I’m hoping to provide another pathway and option for students in the district to be able to take advantage of,” Ms. Mike said. “They’re getting a jump-start on their career.”
