Roller Coaster Physics really is as much fun as it sounds.  And at the Falls City after school program FACES (Family Academics Community and Enrichment for Success), students have to work before the fun begins.

Roller Coaster PhysicsThe two day a week after school class features hands on labs where students build model roller coasters to test their designs and calculations.  When the class ends , they are rewarded with a visit to an amusement part so they can test their ideas.

Staying in the class is not easy.  First they have to turn in all their work on time, and attend each lab.  They must also pass their other classes.

“We kind of up the responsibility of these students,” said teacher Micke Kidd.

At the end of the class, the students go to Silverwood Theme Park in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where they study the rides and perform calculations.  Then they are free to ride in the afternoon.
