Teachers learning about local Latino history are exploring local sources gathered by the Boulder County Latino History Project, including oral histories, demographic data, photos, and news articles in a three day workshop.

http://leadershipandsoftskills.com/“We want to give students another perspective,” said Linda Arroyo-Holmstrom, a Boulder Valley instructional coach. “It’s Boulder County history that’s normally not covered in schools.”

The third annual Latino history workshop is being attended this year by approximately 35 teachers, most of whom are from the Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley schools districts.

Teachers are not only learning the lessons that previous worshop participants presented in their classrooms, they are discussing ways to improve dialog in their classrooms about race and ethnicity.
