Summertime has made it possible for a group of middle school students to attend Middle School University. At University of Wisconsin – Barabooo/Sauk County, new science labs were a focal point for this year’s on campus summer youth program.

Middle School UniversityThe Middle School University program is now in its eighth year.  Students in grades six through eight are invited from the region to participate during the summer in various academic activities.

The summer program allows kids to do just about anything that interests them for a registration fee of $89.  Some of the projects include creating short films with stop motion animation and viewing microscopic organisms under microscopes. This year, the program focused on the sciences in order to promote the new labs.

“We expose these students to this and give them the benefit of the resources and the great professors we have here at UW-Baraboo,” said Director of Continuing Education Cindy McVenes. “We have some great knowledge here and some people who have done a lot of great things in their fields.
