Some innovative teachers are discovering that Hot Wheels cars spark interest in science and math classes.

Hot Wheels Cars Spark Interest in Science and MathAt Oran Roberts Elementary School in Dallas, students are not learning from text books, they are learning about friction from Hot Wheels cars.

Their teacher, Juan Ornelas says that using toys to teach keeps kids engaged and increases their understanding.

Using Hot Wheels tracks and cars to explain how friction impacts motion, is the new lesson. Mr. Ornelas says using toys as teaching tools keeps his kids engaged and helps with comprehension.

“If there is no fun in the lesson, the kids are going to struggle with understanding the material,” Ornelas said.

A group of teachers trained over the summer with the Hot Wheels corporation to integrate the toys into lesson plans. Ornelas says that he has already seen improved grades.
