One middle school has solved the problem of finding time for extra activities, by designating extended days to be used for enrichment activities.
“Our objective is to provide Curtis students with increased opportunities to strengthen their emotional intelligence, foster strong relationships with adults and peers and engage in diverse learning opportunities,” said Principal Jeff Mela.
The committee to explore using extended time to add to student education was formed 18 months ago. 25 staff members worked on how to use the extra time.
“The number of staff members involved really reflects our commitment to ensuring the quality and the effectiveness of this task,” Mela said.
