A personalized learning system enables a hybrid teaching approach in two school districts, allowing students of different levels in the same classroom to have effective small group instruction and project based learning.

In York County Pennsylvania, the South Eastern School District and West York Area School District have been recognized by the Hybrid Learning Institute for the work they are doing using personalized learning.
According to South Eastern Intermediate and Middle School Principal Jon Horton there is a great deal of flexibility in implementing hybrid learning and personalized learning in classrooms. Some teachers might have a traditional lecture, some might have several work stations, depending on what is best for students and for presenting the subject matter.
Teachers have individual time with each student in the room. They utilize technology with lessons, and foster teamwork among students.
“It takes a little bit of time for teachers to make it their own,” Horton said. “It works differently for everyone.”
