Friendships at Camp Helps Improve Relationship Between Countries
As I spoke with one camp owner this year, he told me the story of how two girls in the same cabin were from two different countries normally odds with each other.
During the course of their camp time together, they became, and remained great friends. Each girl learned to respect the other, their individual backgrounds and traditions, and quickly found out that what they heard from their parents was really the way it had to be.
Just being from two different countries with philosophical and other differences did not mean that these two girls could not be close friends.
The good news is that they brought the news about their newfound friendship home to their parents and then returned to the same camp in years following. This is a terrific example of how a camp was included in the Best Summer Camps 2017 Making a Difference Awards.
