Fifth graders are getting the opportunity to prepare Ted Talk style presentations for kids, doing research on topics, and learning how to present what they know in engaging talks.
At Greenwich ISD in Connecticut, fifth graders are completing a research project on a topic they have passion for. They then present their findings in a three day long exhibition, featuring large display boards with quotes and photos, as well as their speeches.
“What we found was that the children really embraced that form to showcase their learning and there is a lot of buzz about Ted Talks,” said ISD principal Terry Ricci. “It’s such an important life skill to be up on stage.”
Some of the topics that the fifth graders covered included cooking, sky marshals, espionage, and how writing is powerful.
