Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg visited a middle school in Providence Rhode Island, to see how the school uses technology and tailors personalized learning for each student. His wife, Priscilla Chan, was also on hand to learn more about the schoo’s approach to targeted instruction.
Later, the couple met with Governor Gina Raimondo at the State House, learning more about Rhode Island’s support for personalized learning. She did not know if the foundation might finance other initiatives.
“Of course, my goal is always to get everybody to invest in Rhode Island, so I’m always selling Rhode Island, but it didn’t come up in the meeting,” she said.
“We are proud of the work our teachers and school leaders are doing to personalize instruction. As the needs of our students continue to change, so must our instructional methods, and we are making great progress in Providence,” said School Superintendent Christopher Maher.
