The rise of and wide-spread use of technology indicates that we need more innovative ways on how to help teachers prepare their students for careers of the future.

Teachers, schools and other organizations focused on education must reevaluate how to prepare students for the future of work and for jobs that might not exist yet.

To help speed the innovative ideas along, one company is offering a $10,000 scholarship and virtual mentorship to help teachers prepare their students for the careers of the future.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading multinational IT services, consulting and business solutions, has partnered with Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital education content and professional development for K-12 classrooms, to create a comprehensive initiative geared at towards preparing students for careers of the future.

TCS and Discovery Education recently announced the launch of the Ignite Innovation Student Challenge as part of its Ignite My Future in School initiative.

The new program challenges middle school students (in teams up to four) to create digital concepts that address a problem in one of TCS’ social responsibility pillars—Our Planet, Health and Education.

The program is an extension of TCS and Discovery Education’s Ignite My Future in School (IMFIS) initiative, launched in 2017, which combines the best of digital content, lesson plans, career vignettes and professional learning to help teachers prepare their students careers of the future.

IMFIS has the goal of engaging 20,000 teachers and one million students in the U.S. by 2021. Since its launch, IMFIS has provided training materials valued at more than $2 million, engaging with over 185,000 students and 3,300 educators.

All submissions and written description entries must be submitted online at no later than December 13 and winners will be announced next spring. Ten winners will be selected to receive prizes, including a $10,000 scholarship and virtual mentorship with TCS mentors to bring their idea to life.
