Inside Mindly Games – Playing the Games:
This is one example of what we saw by playing the Space Race inside the Mindly Games subscription portal.
First, you’ll clearly see the purpose of the game and the directions- “Building skills in two-digit addition by adding 10 more creates a solid foundation in the understanding of number sense. Select the correct answer to get your character moving at top speed to win the race through space.”
Next, under the game screen you’ll see the Common Core Math Standards: “CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.NBT.C.5
Given a two-digit number, mentally find 10 more or 10 less than the number, without having to count; explain the reasoning used.”
In addition, each game shows the grade level and the skill listed at the top of the game.
Next, you choose your colorful character and then go to adding 10 to various numbers, choosing from a list of multiple-choice items.
When we got the item correct, the character flew faster than the others and when we clicked the wrong answer, our character slowed down until we selected the correct answer from a list of multiple-choice possibilities.
The music and graphics were really exciting and more than enough to sustain a child’s interest for hours on any math skill.
